Interpreting and reception: 40 young people will be trained for the Joj Dakar 2026

In the partnership that links it to the Organizing Committee for the Youth Olympic Games (Cojoj) Dakar 2026, the National Office for Professional Training (Onfp) will begin, next week, a training session for 40 young Senegalese for the professions of interpreter and liaison. The initiative aims to support foreign delegations who will participate in this global event.

On a working visit last Wednesday to Cojoj headquarters, the Director General of the Onfp, Dr Mame Awa Ndoye, reaffirmed the commitment of her institution alongside the Organizing Committee. According to Dr Ndoye, for an event as big as the Joj, it was necessary to participate and support the organization for greater success. The program, she said, covers ten languages ​​including French, English, Italian, Korean, Chinese, Japanese and Russian. According to her, it aims to strengthen the linguistic skills of candidates and above all to prepare them for the specific requirements of interpreting in an international context.

For the coordinator of Cojoj Dakar 2026, Ibrahima Wade, this program responds to a concrete need. “The Joj must bring together delegations from 206 countries, as well as thousands of athletes, professionals and visitors who must communicate in their respective languages. It was essential to train guides and interpreters to guarantee the best conditions for participants’ stay,” underlined Mr. Wade.
