Ahmadou Alhaminou Mohamed LO: 1956 billion in arrears, the government will pay off its debt

According to Prime Minister Ahmadou Alhaminou Lô, the State of Senegal has 1,956 billion CFA francs in payment arrears, a situation which, according to him, constitutes a serious blocking factor for the national economy and weighs heavily on business activity.

Faced with this constraint, the head of government intends to make the settlement of state arrears one of the priorities of his government action. He insisted on the need for public authorities to fulfill their financial commitments, believing that the credibility of the State is also measured by its ability to honor its debts.

For Alhaminou Lô, the payment of these arrears is therefore not only an accounting or budgetary requirement. It constitutes an economic and institutional imperative. By gradually clearing its debts, the State intends to restore oxygen to the private sector, restore the confidence of economic operators and streamline the financing mechanisms of the economy.
