Miss World 2026: Amina Badiane looks back on the strengths of candidate Fatoumata Diop
Scheduled for September 5, 2026 in Nha Trang, Vietnam, the Miss Senegal Committee is already ready for Miss World. Its president, Amina Badiane, looks back on the journey of Fatoumata Diop, representative of Senegal, her strengths, her social commitment and the logistical challenges encountered to ensure her participation. She also takes the opportunity to launch an appeal to the Senegalese authorities.
Amina Badiane immediately presents Fatoumata as a talented young girl, from a dignified and religious family. According to the president of the Committee, she is distinguished by a good state of mind, real self-confidence and great determination, qualities which, she says, make her ready to make Senegal shine and conquer the Blue Crown.
Spotted during the casting organized by the Miss Senegal Committee at the Blaise Senghor Cultural Center, Fatoumata Diop has continued to improve since her victory, according to Amina Badiane. The latter underlines that the representative of Senegal worked on her approach alongside Papisko Ndiaye, coach and head of the artistic direction of the Committee, and regularly collaborates with stylists and hairdressers in order to refine her image.

“His commitment goes beyond just aesthetic preparation. She built a social project around mental health and was heavily involved in promoting the tourist destination Senegal,” informs the president of the Miss Senegal Committee. She also specifies that a partnership with the Senegalese Tourism Promotion Agency (ASPT) led the Miss to participate in the filming of a video presenting the country, which will be broadcast to 130 countries in Vietnam, during the competition.
For Amina Badiane, Fatoumata thus embodies a candidate who is both committed, talented and ready to fly the colors of Senegal.
Assets that set it apart
The president also highlights her mastery of English, an asset considered decisive in a competition where the intellectual dimension counts as much as the aesthetic aspect. Beyond her charm, Amina Badiane describes a balanced young woman, “with her head on her shoulders”. A combination of qualities which, according to her, gives Fatoumata every chance of winning at least the title of Miss World Africa and of making Senegal shine on the international scene.

It also represents the charm of the country and its most beautiful sites, thus promoting the national heritage and tourism wealth. Its mission, summarizes the president, is to show the world a Senegal that is whole, welcoming and proud of its identity.
On the question of the means mobilized for Fatoumata’s participation, Amina Badiane is categorical: no external support was requested. It was the Organizing Committee which deployed with its own resources. “The Miss’s family and the Committee would nevertheless like to thank the Minister of Foreign Affairs, who tried to provide support by facilitating the administrative procedures linked to the visa application, in particular through his Director of Protocol,” she clarified. The latter specifies that the absence of diplomatic representation of Senegal in Vietnam, however, constituted a major obstacle. To overcome this difficulty, the team finally used the iVisa online platform to move the process forward.
Beyond the competition and the Crown, Amina Badiane reveals a broader ambition: to invite the president of Miss World to consider relocating the event to Senegal, based on the model of the Youth Olympic Games. Such an initiative, she believes, would strengthen the country’s image while attracting investors.
In this dynamic, the President of the Committee launches an appeal to His Excellency the President of the Republic, through his Minister of Culture, Tourism and Crafts, in order to better preserve and promote the cultural heritage of the country, existing since the 1960s.
