The long awaited surgery for the two seven-month old conjoined twins Bupe and Mapalo at the University Teaching Hospital has been successfully conducted.
Images of the team of doctors on the job have been shared giving insight of how much work has gone into the surgery for the babies that share a liver.
The babies are now under observation after a seven hour medical process.
Prof Lupando Munkonge, Prof Tackson Lambert, Dr Chadwick Ngwisha and Prof Sultanov. Other include senior doctors Prof James Munthali, Dr Penuis Tembo and Dr Mwanahamutu.
The rest are Dr Bruce Bvulani, Dr Robert Zulu, Dr Vernon M Pashi, Dr Mulenga Mulewa, Dr Dilbur and Dr Brown-Oranmore Ray.
Anesthesia is led by Dr Christopher Chanda, Dr Feruza Ismailova, Dr Dildora, Dr Sompwe, Dr Zubair and Dr Mumpasha.
The sisters are comprised of Josephine Chimpinde, Peggy Mashikati, Rebecca Kamboyi, Lucy Nampungwe, Felix Kamuchungu and Yvette Chulu.
The floor staff includes Richard Siambilu and Gift Mudenda.

NOTE: The surgery has been completed with the twins now under observation by the medical team.
